The famous fortress is dated 13-18th centuries, and is located in the Khotyn city at the banks of the Dnister river (Chernivtsi region). The Khotyn Fortress is considered one of the seven wonders of Ukraine, and it is the state's historical and architectural reserve. It was a part of the Khotyn fort built as one of the southwest border fortifications of the Rus, as a result of Bukovina lands annexation in the 10th century by Prince Volodymyr Sviatoslavych. The fort, located on important transport routes, was later rebuilt as the fortress, and its structure is well preserved to our time.
